What to pack for a trip to Sandrock Villa
Planning a trip to Sandrock Villa? Here are some packing essentials we suggest, plus a few indulgent extras for a flawless getaway to paradise 🌴
1. Travel Essentials
🪪 Documents: Passport, visa, travel insurance, and drivers license. When travelling to St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), citizens of many countries will not need a visa but this is worth double checking before your trip. To drive in SVG you will need to apply for a temporary local driving permit, for a small fee, which can be obtained from larger airports, police stations or car rental agencies. Taxis are readily available on Bequia though, so a hire car is not essential.
💳 Credit Cards & Cash: Bring both, especially for small purchases. The currency of SVG is Eastern Caribbean Dollars but US Dollars are also accepted in places.
🔌 Portable Charger: Keep your devices ready for all of those beach photos. At Sandrock Villa we have UK sockets for charging electronics.
2. Essential Clothing
🩱Swimwear: With 2 pools at Sandrock Villa and a nearby beach, we definitely recommend bringing at least 2-3 swimsuits for variety.
👕 Light Outfits: The temperatures in SVG are hot and humid all year round so pack breathable cotton and linen. Think sundresses, shorts, and tank tops.
👗 Evening Wear: There are a wide variety of restaurants on Bequia, only a short taxi ride away from Sandrock Villa, so we suggest packing some smart-casual outfits for dinners.
🩴 Footwear: Flip-flops for the beach, sandals for exploring, and dress shoes for evenings. For the more adventurous, there is a short trail nearby to hike to the summit of Ma Peggy which is highly recommended to take in stunning views of Bequia island and the surrounding Grenadines. Closed toe shoes or hiking boots are definitely needed for this though.
👚 Cover-Ups: Include a sarong or kaftan. These are also useful for protecting against mosquito bites too.
3. Accessories
🕶️ Sunglasses & Hat: Protection from the strong Caribbean sun is key, so we recommend packing your sunglasses and wide-brimmed hat.
🎒Beach Bag: A spacious bag for your pool or beach essentials. We provide beach towels at Sandrock Villa, so that’s one less thing to pack!
4. Sun Protection
☀️ Sunscreen & After-Sun Lotion: Lots of high SPF (at least factor 30) sunscreen is a must. After-Sun lotion can help to soothe any burnt skin, plus we have lots of aloe vera growing in the gardens of Sandrock Villa for post-sun hydration. We also recommend purchasing marine safe SPF, to help protect our local fragile eco-system of coral and marine wildlife.
👄 Lip Balm with SPF: Easily forgotten, but don’t forget to protect your lips!
5. Toiletries
🧴Toiletries: Don’t forget to pack your shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.
🦟 Insect Repellent: At Sandrock Villa we do not believe in fogging as we wish to protect the local flora and fauna, therefore we highly recommend protecting against mosquito bites, especially around dawn and dusk. Long layers of clothing are also great at covering skin – less available areas for bites!
6. Some Extras
🤿 Snorkel Gear & Water Shoes: We have some snorkel gear available at Sandrock Villa but if you are a keen snorkeller and you plan on exploring the ocean, you may want to consider bringing your own. Previous guests have also brought their own paddle boards!
🎶 Portable Speaker: For relaxing by one of Sandrock’s two pools, listening to some of your favourite tunes.
🧘 Yoga Mat: Sandrock Villa is the perfect place to relax and unwind, with our sun deck and outdoor spaces providing a fantastic backdrop for the yoga enthusiast.
